Ken has sent me a result from the 1881 census re. my grandfather-C.E.J.
Laing. He's listed there, son of James and Elizabeth at 23 Thompson St
Stockton as being four year old at the time, which makes him born in
1876/7, yet on his marriage to Sarah Agnes Brown in 1896 he was 22. this
means that he was born 1874!?? How do we reconcile that? Some work to do

06/07/1876 at 23 Thompson St Stockton Charles Jesse ( no mention of
Edgar) Father James Laing Joiner Mother Elizabeth Laing nee Dobson, birth
registered 07/08/1876 at Stockton.
