Thomas ALLEN, son of William ALLEN and Sarah MURRILLS , was born May 10,1787. He married Sarah WEAVER October 17, 1812 in St James Church Picadilly London. He died April 27, 1868 in Dunedin. Sarah WEAVER was born June 19, 1792 in Park St Grovenor Square London. She died May 01, 1856 in Sandride Melbourne Victoria Australia.

They were married at St James Church Picadilly 17 Oct 1812. Sarah was
20.

Thomas took his bride to live at Bushy Park, home of the Duke of Clarence
later King William IV of England.

Thomas was a fellow of the horticultural society of London and was in
charge of the Royal Gardens.

Their first four children, including Amelia, were born at Bushy Park and
Princess Amelia FitzClarence (1807-1858) was her godmother.

In 1836 the Allen family moved to South Australia in TamO'Shanter in the
retinue of the first Governor Captain Hindmarsh.
There was a Frederick W Allen aged 23, a gardener from Regent St on HMS
Buffalo

The 360 ton Tam O'Shanter was privately chartered and commanded by
Captain Whiteman Freeman. (Another source said she was 383 tons). She
sailed from London on 20 July, 1836 and arrived at Kingscote, Kangaroo
Island, on 20 November, 1836. She then proceeded to Holdfast Bay (Port
Adelaide) and tried to enter the Port River, only to run aground on a
sandbar. Four days later she was refloated and moved up to her landing
place. Fifty nine passengers are listed below.
